“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.”
For the past 27 years, Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards has honoured game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers on a global platform; and this year marks eight years of the awards in South Africa. Celebrating women who are bold, fearless, powerful, innovative, funny, inspiring, smart and unique, this year’s class of extraordinary women is no exception. 2017 has been the year of the woman, and the awards are especially relevant in the wake of the #metoo movement.
On the 23rd November 2017, we celebrated the Philanthropists, Musicians, Media Mavens, Fitness Gurus, Bloggers, Artists, Actresses, Entrepreneurs and Business Women we thought deserved to be honoured at our 8th annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards in association with Hyde Park Corner and Roses in a glamorous dinner at Social Kitchen and Bar, presenting the theatricality of an open kitchen, paired with unparalleled views over Hyde Park.
Gorgeous and glamorous guests, including Rosette Ncwana, ChianoSky, Leigh-Anne Williams, LootLove, Taryn Louch, Terry Pheto, Ayanda Nhlapo, Mampho Brescia and Kriya Gangiah came together to celebrate the extraordinary women honoured in this year’s Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. Amidst incredible women, glamorous editor Pnina Fenster honoured this year’s winners, which included an inspiring speech by Actress Leandie Du Randt Bosch, this year’s Pop Culture winner, who motivated attendees to follow their passions with their whole hearts, while staying true to themselves; while Sweep South’s Aisha Pandor, who won in the Business category this year shared her moving story of giving up everything to start her business three years ago. Hosted by Jessica Nkosi, the evening comprised of a stylish sharing menu, GlamCam, Roses cocktails and DJ Kimmy K on the decks.
